I'm Maria, a surface designer and founder of the brand Hagebuttin Designs. Yes, as if the fruit of the wild rose were a female being. The name symbolizes strong self-confidence, hidden beauty, and the power of nature — core elements of my brand philosophy. Under this name, patterns and designs are created for fabrics for clothing and home accessories, as well as for stationery, with love, attention to detail, and a sense of aesthetics. Inspired by the wisdom of nature, each of our designs is crafted with the aim of guiding people on their journey, much like finding an ancient artifact in the forest. I firmly believe that each of us already holds within ourselves everything we need for the next decisive step toward our dreams. And I want to offer everyone the key to feel, express, and acquire the necessary skills deep within themselves.
How I work
I’m definitely the person who thinks with the hand, so in my work I always prefer to make rough sketches in a traditional way with pencil and paper. Then I prepare a clean, inked line drawing, and then I’m free to experiment with the results using the advantages of digital tools. I find my inspiration in the patterns and structures that surround us in nature, as well as in different eras of human history, and especially folk tales and arts. My passion is to convey to each design its own story and multiple layers of meaning, ranging from a feast for the eyes to historically evolved symbolic significance, and even a message to oneself or the outside world. So that everyone can decide how deeply one wishes to dive into this captivating story.
